Gayle L. Godfrey
GAYLE L. GODFREY is Of Counsel in the firm of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP. An accomplished trial attorney, she is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and served a term on its Board of Governors.
Ms. Godfrey vigorously represents health care providers and institutions in a variety of legal matters, with extensive experience defending medical malpractice claims against hospitals, physicians and medical specialists, including general and trauma surgeons, obstetricians, gynecologists, psychiatrists, family practice, critical care, pediatrics and emergency medicine physicians. She represents health care clients before licensing boards, and also has significant experience representing institutions and physicians in disputes concerning credentials and privileges. In addition, she represents claimants in administrative proceedings in pursuit of Social Security disability benefits as the result of her past experience in evaluating and adjudicating claims with the Social Security Administration.
Ms. Godfrey received her law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law and the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure in 1984. In 1988, she completed the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Trial Advocacy Program. She earned her B.S. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Godfrey is admitted to practice before the state courts of Pennsylvania, Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the area of Medical Malpractice, Ms. Godfrey has been a featured lecturer at medical oriented seminars, speaking on subjects such as hospital corporate liability, professional ethics and medical malpractice reform. She is a past Chairperson of the Health Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association and served three terms as board member of the Western Pennsylvania Association of Health-Care Risk Management and the Rachel Carson Homestead Association. She also served as a Special Master appointed by the Court to hold conciliations and preside over jury trials, with consent of the parties, in the Court of Common Pleas in Allegheny County. She is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. She also serves as a member of Cheswick (PA) Borough Council.
